TOCUMBÉ is a group of experienced drummers, percussionists, and lovers of Brazilian music, united by a passion for authentic Brazilian rhythms.
We focus on musical traditions in which drums, percussion, and the energy of playing together play a central role. We draw our inspiration primarily from the rhythms of Rio de Janeiro and Salvador da Bahia, two cities that are among the most important centers of Brazilian percussion music.
For more than two decades, we have been learning from leading Brazilian musicians and regularly bringing new experiences directly from Brazil to Slovakia.
TOCUMBÉ emerged as a natural culmination of our long-standing musical journey. Each band member brings their own experience from various projects, but we are united by a shared vision—to play Brazilian music with respect for its tradition and, at the same time, with an energy that can captivate any audience.
Our repertoire features a diverse range of Brazilian rhythms—from the energetic Samba Reggae of Salvador da Bahia, through Samba Afro, Ijexá, and Maracatu, all the way to the carnival Samba Enredo of Rio de Janeiro.
Every performance is a combination of music, movement, energy, and joy—all hallmarks of Brazil. Powerful rhythms, dynamic choreography, and authentic Brazilian instruments create an experience that captivates the audience from the very first beat.
