OZ Trnky z Tlmáč
Information
Trnky from Tlmáč originally served as the vocal section of the Vatra Folk Ensemble. Over time, they evolved into an independent group that performs at various regional and national events. They are currently accompanied by the Husári folk ensemble during their performances. Their repertoire consists mainly of songs from the Tekov and Hont regions. However, they differ from other singing groups in that their program includes not only songs but also theatrical performances—“Oldomáš,” "Klebetnice"—which are rooted in folk literature and humorously comment on village life in the past. These acts add variety to Trniek’s performances, and audience reactions so far indicate that this is a program that resonates deeply with viewers and is gaining great popularity. “Oldomáš” was awarded a gold ribbon in the “Bearers of Traditions” competition. Trnky from Tlmáč have performed on the folklore show *Zem spieva* and have also appeared several times at folklore festivals in Východná and Myjava. In collaboration with a folk music ensemble led by Zuzana Pokorná, they also recorded the CD *Hore Hronon, doľe Hronon*.

Wedding Headpieces
In recent years, the tradition of placing a headpiece on the bride has once again become a part of weddings. It usually takes place shortly before midnight, when the bride becomes a young woman. For over 20 years, the Trnky folk ensemble from Tlmáč has been enriching this ancient ceremony with their presence and singing. Our repertoire consists of wedding and farewell songs from the Tekov region, with which we accompany the bride during the precious moments when she enters the world of women. If needed, we can also arrange for an elder to participate (only for the capping ceremony, not for the entire wedding).
Folklore Performances
If you’re hosting a Town Day, Wine Harvest Festival, or other celebration, we’d like to highlight our musical, spoken-word, and vocal performances—tailored to your preferences. We always agree in advance with the event organizer on the duration and desired nature of the program (20–60 min.). You can choose a music and singing program (in collaboration with the Husári Folk Ensemble), typically lasting 60 minutes, or a shorter performance (skits from village life—Oldomáš, Klebetnice, each approx. 17 minutes long and featuring songs). The fee depends on the nature and length of the performance (ranging from 200 to 800 euros).
